An African American and a Hispanic get together by meeting in an online chat, and realize they go to the same school. They fall for each other at first sight, but the hate-filled students of the school disagree with their relationship. From gang threats they begin to be afraid. Then they come up with a plan to bust the “family,” the gang at their school. But not everything goes as planned, and they end up being kidnapped by the gang, finding themselves in the of a huge lake, facing Romiette’s biggest fear — drowning.
Julio vows to not let her die as long as he’s alive. The 3 strongest words are said and in the most tragic time they get even closer — “I love you.” Finding herself living the nightmare she’s been having for weeks, Romiette discovers the answer of her dreams in the soulmate who was calling her name as she was being swallowed by the freezing, life-taking water.
Ironic that their names are so similar to Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliette.” Officers question if it’s a modern-day version of the tragic story — 2 teenagers forbidden to love do anything to keep their love alive. Including suicide? No, read Romiette and Julio to find out the ending that will make you want to cry. You figure out if it’s out of tragedy or tears of joy.
