The Slippery Slope

slipperyslope_110The Baudelaire children are back in Book Ten of A Series of Unfortunate Events. This time Count Olaf has kidnapped Sunny on a mountain in the Mortmain Mountain Range, and left Klaus and Vilet in a runaway caravan heading for a river. Violet quickly invents a drag chute that barely allows them to get to safety. As they travel up the mountain in search of their sister, they encounter a swarm of snow gnats, and then a group of Snow Scouts. They decide to join the group for the night, and quickly discover one of the Scouts is trying to send them a message.

After everyone’s asleep, they travel with the mysterious Scout up a Vertical Flame Diversion hidden in the back of the cave. And when they finally are able to discover the Scout’s identity, they realize someone who they thought was dead is really quite alive.

This was an hilarious book filled with tons of sarcasm. Two thumbs up!  [John]
