Maleeka Madison gets picked on, so she starts to hang out with girls that aren’t the best influence. For example when Ms. Saunders, the new teacher, starts to fail Charlese (one of the girls Maleeka hangs out with), they go into the school during the crack of dawn and trash her room. Maleeka thinks about bailing out on the girls, but is afraid of what they will think of her so she just sits there. After a little while Char notices and tells her to start helping. Maleeka doesn’t want to, then Char pulls out her lighter and puts it in Maleeka’s face acting as if she is about to burn Maleeka. Maleeka reluctantly takes the lighter and accidentally burns the curtains and the whole room catches on fire. In the end Maleeka Madison learns her lesson and everything goes well. Now she is a stronger person who has a new attitude and new friends. I would recommend this book to any and everyone!! [suppiedoodle]

I like this book a lot. It reminded me of a time in my life where I didn’t like a teacher and in the end I began to see why she was so hard on me. It was because she wanted me to do better in life. Maleeka Madison is honest and powerful and is not afraid to speak her mind, but she’s afraid to love herself because of what other people say. This book teaches you to love yourself no matter what people say, to respect others, and to love the skin you’re in. I give this book an A+.
