You could say that Phoebe Avery has it good. She’s finally almost done with middle school, and is planning the party of the year with her four best friends. What could go wrong? Unfortunately, something does. Phoebe finds her usually hard-working mother at home one day, and things start to go bad. While buying Phoebe her dress for the party, her mother’s check bounces, and it all gets worse from there. Rich, pretty, and popular describes nobody else except the “Lucky” person named Phoebe. Well, at least that’s what she thought until everything changed during the upcoming of the huge graduation party. All of 8th grade would be invited, plus extra people, and she and her friends set it up. First embarrassment from a sudden drop in finances and makes her no longer able to support her own party. She can’t even afford to buy a dress! But to make things worse, her friends Kirstyn, Ann, Gabrielle, and Zhara start slipping apart, and some strange things start happening between her and her crush. Now she is calling herself Unlucky … until the day of graduation arrives.
