Right now I am just starting the book. Anne is telling us what the Nazis have done to the rules. One thing they did is that Jews have to be indoors by 8. The second one is that they have to walk everywhere, which is very very hard. The last one is that everyone had to wear a gold star on their clothing, to school, for shopping, and just walking around. [beamerbrit21]

This book is about an African-American writer named Walter Dean Myers. He had trouble reading at first, always stumbling over words, but one day the teacher told him he could write what he wanted to say. He wrote the most amazing story and he thought writing would be a career. After a long journey through the army first, almost in jail and getting suspended, Myers wrote over 30 books in his time. His son began a new career of drawing, so Myers wrote while Christopher drew. They were a good team after awhile – Myers got many awards, like the Coretta Scott King award six times. He was the best African-American writer between 1940 and 1990. [master37400]
This book would be great for anyone wanting to learn about the true life of Harriet Tubman or a great historical figure. While Harriet was young, as a slave, she had a tragic life and got switched around from place to place a lot of times. Her owner kept getting her back after the people who had bought her kept sending complaints. She sometimes got separated from her family.
