A man is in his house sitting down in his chair trying to stay awake, but suddenly he hears a tapping at his chamber door. He was very scared because he didn’t know what it was. When he heard it again, he looked out the door and saw the raven. The man got even more scared because he was thinking about his lost Lenore. Every time he asked the bird “Why are you here?” it said, “Nevermore.” My favorite scene was when the narrator opened the door and the raven said “Nevermore.” [Abigail#7]

This story takes place in North America during the French and Indian War and follows the journey of a scout named Hawkeye and the daughters of General Munro, Cora and Alice. Hawkeye is traveling with a party of two Native Americans, Chingachgook and his son Uncas. They are the last surviving members of the Mohican tribe. Their lives are put in even more danger when Cora and Alice are kidnapped by the deceiving Huron, Magua. It’s now up to Hawkeye and his allies to save the two before it’s too late.

Awesome! Although this book was written over a hundred years ago, it is definitely a book that I couldn’t put down. A few words and phrases made it a bit difficult to understand, but the reader will get used to it. The plot was in such an unusual setting too; it just really interested me. The pictures in the book were so colorful and vivid. It gives the reader a clear picture of the setting. For those who love great adventures and heroes, this book is for you! [Wild Pancake]

Pride and Prejudice

First of all, if you absolutely love to listen to gossip and people with old, proper British accents, then this is the book for you. A woman stands alone in society as many men come into her life. Some propose to become friends, others propose marriage. Her mother does everything in her power to get her to marry a wealthy, suitable young man. And that’s when a man comes into her life, but he’s not just any man. She hates him … but does she? He’s proud. And she’s prejudice. Find out in Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice.

I loved this book. It is my all-time favorite by far. Of course, if you love all that mushy stuff and gossip like me, and have respect for old British literature, then you would absolutely adore this book. I have checked it out and read it so many times that eventually, my mother bought me the book. [berryice2345]

20,000 Leagues Under the Sea

There is a huge beast in the ocean and a group of sailors trying to bring it down, but when they found the Beast was it really a beast? Can they bring whatever it is down? It was a nice classic. I enjoyed this action-filled, adventure-packed, awesome book! I would recommend it to anyone. [(<_>) HI]

Gulliver’s Travels

So far this is an AMAZING book!! It’s about a young boy who dreams of traveling the world. His father says that he has to finish studying to travel. After his studies have ended he joins this group and they start to travel the seven seas. One night there is a storm and the boat sinks and only Gulliver survives. He floats until he washes upon shore. When he wakes up the next day he finds that he is pinned down. I have only read up to this point and have to read the rest. So far I would recommend this book to any reader that is interested in adventure fiction. [sUpPi3do0dl3]

So what if you knew the secret to making dead corpses come to life? There’s this guy, Dr. Frankenstein, who knows that secret. So, he’s awfully lonely, and what he basically does is say, “Oh, I’m going to get the parts of corpses and make a human!” Well, that’s exactly what he did, and it wasn’t the best idea. Frankenstein isn’t the best looking guy out there, and Dr. Frankenstein doesn’t want anything to do with him, in fact he sort of hates him. But all Frankenstein wants is love, what’s wrong with that? Well, everyone is afraid of him, and therefore everyone hates him. So (this is a qoute from the book), “If I cannot find love, I will inspire FEAR!” So he’s getting revenge on Dr. Frankenstein for creating him. [Heather]

Wuthering Heights

Wuthering Heights takes place back in the 1800′s. A traveler, Mr. Lockwood, is seeking shelter from the storm outside, so he stops at Wuthering Heights. He notices strange things about that place: how the master, Mr. Heathcliff, is so cruel, how he has a widowed daughter-in-law who he hates, and how in the middle of the night there is a ghost in the room he is in. When Lockwood moves to his new house, Thrushcross Grange, he meets a maid who has worked there since she was a child. It is the maid who unravels the tragic story behind Heathcliff, and the other inhabitants of Wuthering Heights.

I really like this book. It’s amazing how Catherine can be so selfish, and Heathcliff so cruel. Heathcliff ruins the lives of 2 generations with his malignance. It’s a jaw-dropping story that really makes you think. [Heather]
