This was going to be the breakout year for Alli (Alison). Well after what happened the first day of school – she had a pair of panties stuck by static cling to the leg of her pants. Then this boy named Jeremy Webster teased her for that. It was an accident! After that, Jeremy Webster kept on teasing her, he called her a “stripper” (what!). Then the popular girl Rachel invited her to her birthday party the same day it was Kathy’s birthday party (her best friend). But instead she went to Rachel’s party. What will happen next? You could say that Phoebe Avery has it good. She’s finally almost done with middle school, and is planning the party of the year with her four best friends. What could go wrong? Maleeka Madison gets picked on, so she starts to hang out with girls that aren’t the best influence. For example when Ms. Saunders, the new teacher, starts to fail Charlese (one of the girls Maleeka hangs out with), they go into the school during the crack of dawn and trash her room. Maleeka thinks about bailing out on the girls, but is afraid of what they will think of her so she just sits there. After a little while Char notices and tells her to start helping. Maleeka doesn’t want to, then Char pulls out her lighter and puts it in Maleeka’s face acting as if she is about to burn Maleeka. Maleeka reluctantly takes the lighter and accidentally burns the curtains and the whole room catches on fire. In the end Maleeka Madison learns her lesson and everything goes well. Now she is a stronger person who has a new attitude and new friends. I would recommend this book to any and everyone!! [suppiedoodle]
This book is SO funny and original! It is written entirely in Instant Messages, which is great for people who really like the computer. It is about these three girls, Zoe (Zoegirl), Angela (SnowAngel), and Maddie (MadMaddie), as they go through senior year. This book has everything, like … gossip, mean girls, drama, the stress of getting into your college of choice, best friends and boyfriends. The book is VERY witty, sometimes I would find myself laughing out loud and having teachers or family members stare at me funny. =]
Will Tuppence acts like a worrywart. After he found out that protons decay, he starts to worry. His little 5 year old sister, Tabby, bothers him so much, and it seems as if she just loves to torture him. His best friend BT is a carefree, go-with-the-flow kind of guy who skatedboards down Dead Man’s Hill, and his friend Mi-Su is someone who becomes very special to him. I think this story was good, and if you like Jerry Spinelli, read it. It has fear, romance, sadness, friendship and love.
If you liked Shakespeare’s Secret, then you’ll love this book. Written by the same author, Elise Broach, this book is about friendship. This particular friendship is between a boy and a beetle! The beetle is actually a great artist and tries to copy another piece of art. Then, his artwork is used as a decoy to catch the thief of the other 3 missing Dürer drawings. Will he survive his adventure, or plummet into the unknown?
For Theodore (aka Armpit), life after camp Greenlake could get tricky, struggling to keep his job and get his GED. This story is great if you like stories of triumph. I thought this book was ok.
This is a great book about teenage independence. A group of completely different kids meet at a knitting store. They become friends while knitting new things. Throughout the story, the group overcomes challenges as friends. This book shows real feelings of realistic kids.
