Just Listen

Annabel Greene is living the life! She’s a model, has tons of friends .. and that’s almost one hundred per cent false. She has an older sister named Whitney, who has a horrible eating disorder. Annabel’s  other sister, Kristen, left for work. She is left alone to deal with her sister. She has no one to talk to – until she meets Owen. He helps Annabel out with all of her problems and her lies. He helps her to speak out and tell the truth to her mom about how she hates modeling. The only one standing in her way is her ex-best friend, Sophie.

This is a pretty good book. It just took me a couple of tries to get it started. After I did, it got so interesting. The author blends in Annabel’s stress, anger, love, hate, and loneliness into a very interesting story.  [Mo_143]

Three Black Swans

Three Black SwansMissy, the main character, has a cousin – or so she thinks. They are both suspicious that they might be twin sisters, considering some actions of the parents. Then there is a situation with an online video. They’re under the impression that one of the viewers is also part of their family. That means they could be triplets!  I really liked this book. It was so interesting the way the author wrote the story. With all of the questions and suspense, it made me want to keep on reading to see what happened next. Probably, the most interesting part is the end. I can’t tell it because if someone else reads this book, it would ruin it for them.  [X]

TTYL

TTYLThis story is about three girls who have their ups and downs, dealing with gossip, boys, parents and teachers. They are girls just having fun. I liked this book very much. It related a little bit to my everyday life and could help me.  I felt like this book catches the image of real teenagers’ lives. It explained how friends deal with breaking up and getting back together.  [???]

Th1rteen R3asons Why

What if you came to school one day and someone was missing? Someone you cared about, like your friend, crush, or student? And what if they never came back? That is just what happened to Clay Jensen. His long time crush, Hannah Baker, killed herself, but that wasn’t the end of her. She left behind thirteen tapes, reasons why she killed herself. Everyone who contributed to her decision got a tape, explaining how they helped. So when Clay receives the tapes on his doorstep, he is baffled. But the rules of the tapes say you must listen to all of them, so that is what he does. He hears each and every story and visits the places on the map she left as he tries to figure out what he did. He wanted to be someone Hannah could trust with her problems, not be a problem himself. By the time he reaches his own tape he despises pretty much everyone else, and he isn’t sure if he will be any different. He didn’t do anything, right? Maybe that was the worst thing he could have done.

I loved this book even more than usual! Although it was sad, it seemed like it could happen to anybody. I didn’t particularly like any characters, because they all helped end Hannah’s life in one way or another, but I didn’t like Clay the least. My favorite scene was when Clay listened to this tape, because it was very bittersweet. Boys and girls would like this book, and it was VERY suspenseful! It reminded me of the song “How to Save a Life” by The Fray.  [trh99]

ttfn

ttfnThis book is about three friends who are planning to go to Cumberland. They are old friends who only communicate through e-mail and text messages. These girls get into some really bad places like having a social life with a teacher, a very good relationship with a boy, and then a smoking teen.  Yeah, I loved it! It had drama, action, and suspense. It has everything in one book. You will be in for lots of surprises if you read this book.  [Ashley]

Shug

ShugThis book is about this tall, smart girl and her romantic life with boys. Will the boy she dislikes like her?  Every sentence is filled with mouth-watering details. It’s about someone your age, so you can relate to her. You’ll have loads of laughs, gossip and fun with Shug.  [Plant Unicorn :) ]

Someone Like You

Someone Like YouScarlett’s boyfriend just died, and they had just admitted that they loved each other. Her best friend comes home from camp to comfort her and meets Macon. She starts to fall for him. Is he worth getting grounded for sneaking around? They are faced with an even bigger problem: Scarlett is pregnant. What will they do?

I loved this book! It really shows the main character’s feelings about her life, and makes it feel like I’m in the story by the way the character narrates the story. If you like books that are about real-life situations, you should definitely get this book.  [dizidiv]

Halo

HaloThree angels, Bethany, Ivy and Gabriel, are sent to Venus Cove, a sleepy beachside town.  Their mission is to protect the town from the rising forces of darkness.  What isn’t part of their mission is Bethany falling in love with a human …

This is one of the best books I’ve read in a long time.  I only read a few pages and became completely absorbed in the book.  Gabriel is my favorite character because he’s a really caring older brother.  There are a few religious aspects of the book, but nothing too heavy.  If anything I think it improves the story.  [Wild Pancake]

Twelve

This story is about a girl named Winnie. This is about how now she’s growing up. Winnie is starting to develop and she is not happy about it. It’s her birthday and she’s just turning twelve. She has a sister named Sandra. She says over and over again she’s not ready. She thinks it’s embarrassing. She gets angry when her mom starts talking about bras. Winnie would just get freaked out when her mother would mention it. She has a best, best friend she hangs out with at school named Dinah.

My favorite character is the mom. Even though she annoys Winnie she still is very supportive of her. She will make sure and always will try to do the right thing for her daughter. She encourages Winnie a lot. Winnie’s mom reminds me of some characteristics of my mom.  [unicorn123]

Unlocked

UnlockedDo you know how it feels to be Mr. Clean’s son? Andy does, or shall I say Clean Junior. Poor Andy doesn’t have any friends until one day a once-was popular kid named Blake befriends him. They have fun times until the rumors become true. All throughout his school there have been rumors that Blake kept a gun in his locker. After Andy’s friendship began he never believed these rumors, until Blake pulled out the sleek black gun out of his pocket. What will happen?

I loved this book because of the suspense. You think you know what will happen, but there’s a sudden twist. I loved this book, and you will too!  [Rocky158]

The Secret Language of Girls

The Secret Language of GirlsThis story is about two best friends, Kate and Marylin, who have been friends forever. But when Marylin gets on the cheerleading squad, things start to change between them, as they become more unalike. Along the way they experience their first love, and realize that a best friend isn’t a person that wants to humiliate someone, it’s a person who is there for you no matter what. Will Marylin and Kate ever become best buds again?

I love how the author changed the different perspectives between Kate and Marylin. It was kind of cool to see how each character reacted to a situation. There are a lot of realistic problems that happen with friends and family right now. I just couldn’t put this book down!!  [ZombieSockMonkey55]

The Truth about Stacey

The Truth about StaceyPoor Stacey, who moved to a new town because she was still coming to terms with her diabetes. She’s facing babysitting issues left and right.  And her parents are no help.  Luckily Stacey’s true friends, Kristy, Mary-Anne and Claudia, help her with her situations, and they also overcome the problem.  Book 2 of the graphic novel versions of The Babysitters Club.

This book is very good to read because it teaches a lesson, kinda like a moral/theme.  I thought it was good for all readers that probably have diabetes.  I don’t have any dislikes about it.  [GIRLY GURL]

Kristen

KristenKristen Gregory is part of the Pretty Committee, and while the rest of the group is all around the world and who knows where,  she’s stuck in Westchester, NY.  She has a job tutor-sitter, Ripple Baxter, who has a hawtie surfer bro.  I guess small towns have their perks!  LOL.  A Clique novel.

AMAZING!! It has boys, snotty older girls, all-out skaters, pranks, secret clubs, costumes, mamma drama. I loved it!  [PARIS]

Boys R Us

Boys R UsThis is one of the last books of the Clique. In this book, Massie, Alicia, Dylan, Kristen, and Claire split up. Alicia, Dylan, and Kristen join the Soul-m8s. Claire is stuck in the middle. Massie hires friends to get them jealous.  Do they end up as friends or enemies?

I loved this book. It had so much drama – heartbreaks, loving friends, and worthless enemies. I think people who like drama, girl-stuff, and heartbreaks will love this book. The emotion can be sadness or love, enemies or friends at the same time.  [sugar plumpuff ]

Leap Day

Leap DayJosie Taylor is turning sixteen, but it is a leap day. So, when she has her birthday, it is a big deal. This book is all about the ups and downs of her birthdays. She is still in high school.  Some bad things happen.

I liked this book because it was realistic with a twist. It was fun and interesting. It had different peoples’ points of view.

[LoveBieber313 ]

Milo: Sticky Notes and Brain Freeze

Milo: Sticky Notes and Brain FreezeThere is new boy in town. Milo has a hard time fitting in at school. He develops a crush over a girl and tries everything to try and get her to like him.  I liked the book. It was interesting. The graphics were funny.   [Spongebob]

Well Witched

Well WitchedJosh, Chelle and Ryan are three best friends. They steal coins from the bottom of a wishing well and the well’s witch gives them powers. The powers make them do bad things.

I didn’t love it, but it was a pretty good. It took too long to get to the point. There weren’t many interesting parts of the book.  [greenflower38]

Quit It

Quit ItThis book is about a girl named Carrie who is a seventh grader. She seems to be normal, but she’s not. She shrugs violently, coughs too frequently, and randomly jerks her head wildly and uncontrollably. She has Tourette Syndrome.

I have to rant and rave about this book because at some points the book is very alive, but at other times, the book is sterile and boring. The beginning of the book made me laugh because Carrie is not afraid to speak her mind.  Carrie’s first sentence was, “Now there’s a dumber question in the universe than how was school today?” The book reminds me of Dear Dumb Diary. It is a good book because it makes me think of people that live with Tourette Syndrome in real life.   [I Love RocRoyal 4 Life]
