This book is about a 14-year-old boy the creates a website where he blogs sermons about things that he experiences. When the site gets a little too popular, people try to find out who Larry is and everything starts to go downhill. So far this is a great book that can really speak to you in many ways. It’s very meaningful. [someone]
Greg Heffley is your average middle school boy who hates life … and all the problems he has to face, such as his prankster brother Rodrick, his embarrassing friend Rowley, and his desperate attempts to impress a girl. Along with these problems, Greg’s dad wants to send Greg to a summer military school! Uh-oh, the big red buzzer is going off! Greg now has to show his dad that he’s NOT a wimp, and can be strong (when he wants to) … but all his attempts are failing! But will this one last trick work?
I finished this book over 2 days, and I could’ve finished it in one (if it wasn’t for sleeping), but the main point is that this is a book that you can’t stop reading until you’ve finished! [Zaynah]
The Baudelaire children are back in Book Ten of A Series of Unfortunate Events. This time Count Olaf has kidnapped Sunny on a mountain in the Mortmain Mountain Range, and left Klaus and Vilet in a runaway caravan heading for a river. Violet quickly invents a drag chute that barely allows them to get to safety. As they travel up the mountain in search of their sister, they encounter a swarm of snow gnats, and then a group of Snow Scouts. They decide to join the group for the night, and quickly discover one of the Scouts is trying to send them a message.
After everyone’s asleep, they travel with the mysterious Scout up a Vertical Flame Diversion hidden in the back of the cave. And when they finally are able to discover the Scout’s identity, they realize someone who they thought was dead is really quite alive.
This was an hilarious book filled with tons of sarcasm. Two thumbs up! [John]

Grandma Ben, Thorn, and Fone Bone have to leave the farm forever and make their way to Barrelhaven, but they meet Kingdok, the leader of the Rat Creatures. Surprisingly, Thorn cuts his right arm off. But back at the village, everyone (except Lucius) believes that he is a Dragonslayer. He somehow hoodwinked everyone to believe that dragons are their main enemy. Fourth in the Bone series. [Jackie]
Now that the hole in the house is finished, Phoney and Smiley head back to Barrelhaven while Fone Bone stays with Thorn and Grandma Ben. Thorn and Fone start having weird dreams, but Thorn’s seem to reflect more of her past. Grandma knows something that they don’t. Smiley, Luxius, and Phoney are attacked by rat creatures, and their changes of making it to Barrelhaven are slim. Third in the Bone series. [Jackie]
Finally reunited! Fone, Smiley and Phoney are back together, and Phoney is back to his old tricks and schemes, this time to ruin the cow races. Grandma Ben is the fastest runner in the valley. Since everybody bets on Grandma to win, Phoney persuaded everyone to bet against her. If this messes up, Phoney is really going to be in for it. Second in the Bone series. [Jackie]
Three bones: Fone Bone (kind and loyal), Smiley Bone (who seems to have no brain at all), and Phoney Bone (greedy and stubborn). They come from a town called Boneville but are run out because of Phoney’s schemes. They get lost in a desert but get separated by a huge swarm of locusts and eventually end up in a weird valley. Phoney finds Fone Bone at an old women’s farm, but Smiley is still missing and Fone and Phoney need to find him fast. First of the Bone series.

Newberry Award Winner Lois Lowry has produced another outstanding piece of literature. Unlike The Giver and Number the Stars, this book is a humorous examination of human relationships. As parents and children try to get rid of each other we learn great vocabulary (thankfully there is a glossary) and see kids learn to change their nefarious ways and become affable and winsome individuals. Will the parents get rid of the kids, or will they meet a chilly end on the mountainside? To learn if Commander Melanoff finds his long-lost son or the baby left on the front steps, check out The Willoughbys today.

If you like comedy books, this one’s for you. It’s about a girl named Raisin who made her blog so she could chat with her friend about what’s going on with herself in her new neighborhood. I enjoyed this book because it was funny and I understood a lot of her troubles!

This book is great for anyone with a sense of humor. It’s about a slacker who decides not to do a book report, and for punishment he has to help with the school’s play (that coincidentally is of the book he did not read). When he puts his ideas into the play, things get pretty crazy. Anyone looking for excitement and humor in a book — No More Dead Dogs is for you.
