Stormbreaker

StormbreakerFourteen-year-old Alex is extremely athletic, very smart, and has great instincts. His uncle is his best friend. Little does Alex know that his uncle is hiding a secret that can get him killed. This was a very good book. It was one of the most exciting books that I have ever read. Almost every page was action-packed! This book is a must read.  [NNDD]

Girl, Stolen

Girl, StolenCheyenne Wilder is staying by herself in her stepmom’s car for just a few minutes while her stepmom is getting something inside a building. Suddenly someone steals the car. On the road the thief realizes that Cheyenne is in the back. Cheyenne is taken on a dangerous adventure of being kidnapped. The adventure is even more dangerous because she has pneumonia and is blind.

This is a fantastic book! Don’t let the cover deceive you and make you think that it is scary. It’s actually a brilliant story. Plans and techniques used by the characters in the story were constantly surprising me. For some reason, the story just hypnotized me! A lot of other people who have read the book feel the same way.  [meow person]

Spy Goddess 2: Quest for the Lance

Spy Goddess 2Rachel is sent to a strange school really far from home. The school has a creepy principal who follows people around. Rachel never dreamed that the school would only bring her more trouble.

I loved this book because it was surprising and fast-paced. I liked it so much that I read it in one day. I couldn’t stop reading! This book kind of has a mystery theme in it, but it’s also about a teenage girl’s life. So it would be best for girls who enjoy mystery and adventure books to read it. It reminded me of I’d Tell You I Love You, But I’d Have to Kill You. It was great!  [Guitar Star]

The Maze Runner

The Maze RunnerImagine an sprawling maze, miles and miles across, with stone walls a hundred feet high.  Fill it with terrifying creatures, half animal, half machine, with blades and needles for appendages.  Now add 50 teenage boys with no memory of their past.  Voila – you’ve got The Maze Runner.  Who created the maze?  Will any boys survive the monstrous Griever attacks?  Is there a way out?

I found this a fun read, primarily for the unique setting of the maze.  It’s sort of a cross between Ender’s Game and Lord of the Flies, with some horror and gore thrown in.  The teens have developed their own lingo, which can become annoying, and a few key points near the end were predictable.  Still, the suspense is maintained throughout, making it a quick page-turner.  Our Media Center also has the sequel, The Scorch Trials.  [Mr. Hobson]

Stolen Children

Stolen ChildrenThis story is about a girl named Amy who is babysitting a girl named Kendra.  Kendra and Amy get kidnapped by robbers because the robbers want to get money out of the parents.  Turns out, Kendra’s old nanny was in on the plan too!

This book from the cover looked not very interesting, but as I read, my suspense for the book grew and I enjoyed it very much.  The overall emotion was great in this story.  I really enjoyed the surprise at the end.  [ny115]

They Never Came Back

They Never Came BackThis book was great!  Filled with excitement and surprises.  So, there’s this little girl named Murielle.  Her parents were the owners of this HUGE investment company and robbed people of millions of dollars.  They skipped town and left Murielle with her Aunt Lois and cousin Tommy.  Then there’s this girl named Cathy Ferris.  She goes to a summer school in Greenwich.  Tommy goes to the same summer school.  He sees Murielle one day and says she’s Murielle because of her great resemblance to Rory Lyman (Murielle’s mom).  After that, the FBI is all on her back and Cathy is FREAKIN out.  Is it because she REALLY IS Murielle, or is she just not used to the attention?  [ParamoreFan]

Switched

switched_110This has got to be the best book that has ever made me think so much! Switched is about a 17-year-old girl named Nicole who is feeling really depressed: her parents are staying on her, giving her no freedom.  Her boyfriend just broke up with her!  And she’s slacking in school.  So her best friend Lucy has a way to help both of them escape their problems — Lucy takes her to the secret changing wall where two people climb to the top, hold hands, jump off to the other side, and come out with your brain in the other person’s body.

Not realizing it would work, Nicole does it.  Too bad she didn’t know that with Lucy’s body would come Lucy’s problems … and by problems I don’t mean the usual “I’m grounded for a week” type of problem, more like the “I murdered my parents, their blood is all over the living room floor with their bodies, and the knife I used is on my nightstand under a note that says ‘I HAD TO KILL THEM I COULDN’T TAKE IT ANYMORE ~LUCY K’” type of problems.

Now in Lucy’s body with the cops chasing her and everyone she trusted betraying her, Nicole must find Lucy, who is gone.  Trust me, the ending will make you drop your mouth, it’s something no one will expect.  Great for teen boys and girls, Switched is my book of the day.  It blew my mind when I was done!  I could say it’s addicting because there’s so much suspense and so many mouth droppers, you just won’t want to put it down!  [Cey-Cey]
